Gruff Pantak was born in 2742CS in Nova City, the capital of Daka in the Yuri System. Left an orphan at an early age after a tragic accident claimed his parents, he was taken in by his father's close friend, Tombo Minchy. A retired Orbital Elite and six-time Undisputed Unified SlugFist Champion of the Universe, Tombo raised the boy inside his gym, subjecting him to advanced combat training and conditioning as soon as he could walk. Gruff was blunt and easily angered, making him a difficult pupil, but he possessed clear athletic talent. Tombo worked to channel that aggression into a practical fighting style, pairing heavy strikes with surprisingly quick footwork.

Eager to test himself against seasoned opponents, Gruff soon entered the Nova City Fight Nights, a network of unsanctioned arenas scattered across the capital. His ability to switch from brutal offense to agile maneuvers earned him the moniker "The Dexterous Devastator," a title soon respected throughout the underground circuit. While competing in these venues, Gruff crossed paths with Kristoff Enric, known as the "Punchline Prodigy," and Snee Hanon, the "Glam Slam Man." Kristoff's quick wit and tactical mind, combined with Snee's flashy bravado, seemed worlds apart from Gruff's stoic approach. Despite their clashing personalities and ring styles, all three shared an ambition to climb the ranks. After forming an alliance known as The Nova City Boyz, Gruff became both the backbone and driving force behind the group. He kept Kristoff and Snee focused, pushing them harder, critiquing their flaws, and demanding perfection. His overbearing demeanor and grueling methods were tough to endure, but they always came from a place of deep protectiveness.

The Nova City Boyz quickly became a sensation, catching the attention of WahLa, the popular social media platform that signed the trio as official Social Media ComBassadors. The platform's backing launched the team into mainstream prominence and secured their entry aboard the Galacticana to face the Federation Spaceway's elite. Since debuting in 2773CS, Gruff has only grown more aggressive in the ring. Yet beneath the grumbling and scolding, his loyalty runs deep: he is always the first to charge into a fight to defend his crew, and the last to leave their side when the dust settles.
