Jarah Umber was born in 2740CS into the Zar Gi clan on Gwazi, a planet in the Zedarr System. Gwazi’s native Shedu hold deep spiritual ties to their environment, believing that ancestral spirits inhabit the planet’s open savannahs and wild forests. As a youngling, Jarah displayed natural combat instincts. Recognizing this gift, her mother, Durah Umber, a respected fighter in her own right, stepped in to oversee her training.

This continued until a sparring match in which Jarah accidentally snapped Durah’s arm. Rather than halt her daughter’s progress, Durah recognized that Jarah’s potential exceeded what she could teach at home. She sent her to dojos across Gwazi, where Jarah trained under veteran Orbital Elites and KaVazi Rangers. This intense training refined her talent, transforming her into an incredibly talented athlete.

Her development accelerated further after catching the attention of Sarfa Okurk, an Elder DenKing and former leader of the Shin Jo Frenzy. Sarfa took Jarah on as his personal apprentice, mentoring her and sharpening her focus, athleticism, and willpower. That tutelage culminated at the Zedarr Tri-Planetary Olympiad, where Jarah went undefeated with a 4-0 record. This impressive victory solidified her reputation as one of Gwazi's most skilled martial artists and earned her the moniker "The Valkaroar."

Her greatest test came when the long-banished tyrant Lord Ebonheart invaded Gwazi with a mercenary army, shattering the planet's defense lines. Jarah rose to the challenge, organizing resistance groups to push back against the invaders. When the campaign reached its climax, she joined forces with two fellow Shedu icons: Werick the "Roardacious Rex Symbol" and the "Hyperdrive Heartthrob" Jorin Rowhaus. Jarah’s powerful strikes created the crucial openings that allowed Werick’s quick wit to disorient their foe, setting up Jorin to deliver the final blow that forced Lord Ebonheart into retreat.

To commemorate their victory and honor Sarfa Okurk, the three fighters formed the Shin Jo Force to defend Gwazi and patrol nearby routes along the Federation Spaceway.
