As a proud Yalzan, his species lived closely with it. Raised on a farm that had been in his family for generations, Zephriko’s ambitions as a youngling were simple. He dreamed of a quiet life working the fields alongside his beloved wife Zelara, raising their own family, and honoring the legacy of his ancestors.

This peaceful existence was shattered when the insectoid Yarlvek from the neighboring planet of Yalzax III invaded Yalzax II. Displaced by the Navi Compani, the desperate Yarlvek turned the fertile fields of Yalzax II into battlegrounds, forcing the Yalzan into a brutal war. Zephriko, like many of his species, took up arms to defend their home. The war was a grim affair; the Yarlvek consumed everything in their path, and Zephriko witnessed horrors that would forever haunt him. Desperate to protect his family, he abandoned his post and rushed back to his farm, only to find it destroyed and his wife fatally wounded.

With his life in ruins, Zephriko left his homeworld behind, a planet now reduced to a wasteland of ash and decay. He became a wanderer, a ruthless and pragmatic mercenary known only as "Zephriko the Black," a name earned for his cold-hearted nature. During his travels, he became obsessed with the myth of The Blight, a trio of ancient and powerful beings known as Fuamudd, Thandra, and Persedora. This obsession became his life's mission. He scoured the farthest reaches of the Federation Spaceway, seeking ancient texts and cryptic maps to uncover the truth behind the legend. His singular goal was to resurrect The Blight and gain ultimate knowledge.

After a grueling quest, Zephriko is believed to have found the fabled masks of The Blight: the Scarlet Shroud of Authority, the Jade Mask of Enlightenment, and the Midnight Helm of Chaos. Knowing that he needed pupils to embody the ancient forces the masks represented, he chose three beings to wear them. Hellsa Bellsa the Rage King, a towering figure of raw power, was chosen to wear the Scarlet Shroud, channeling Fuamudd's strength. Quaotik the Emerald Cleric, a being of incredible intellect, was given the Jade Mask to embody Thandra's wisdom. And Psyro the Novazure Reaper, a chaotic and unpredictable soul, donned the Midnight Helm, mirroring Persedora's untamed spirit. Together, under Zephriko's guidance, they formed The Blight.

Zephriko brought The Blight to the Galacticana as a proving ground for his chosen warriors. Their debut was in the cycle 2767CS, and their mission aboard the Galacticana is not simply to win matches but to reawaken the ancient power within the masks. For Zephriko, the competition is a means to an end, a way to test the strength, intellect, and chaos of his pupils against the greatest fighters across the Federation Spaceway, all in pursuit of his ultimate goal: to resurrect The Blight and unlock their powers once more.
